Members of various Brahmin associations held a protest in Vijayapura on Saturday, against the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) over the recent incidents in which some students appearing for CET in Shivamogga and Bidar were allegedly asked to remove ‘janivara’ or ‘sacred thread’.
Protestors condemned the alleged action by KEA officials.Members of Akhil Bharat Brahmin Samaj Mahasangh gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office to mark their protest.
The incidents are highly condemnable, and those who forced the students to remove it or walk out of the examination hall should face disciplinary action, they said.
The leaders of the organisation expressed concern over the incident, adding that it has created anxiety in the Brahmin community. “It has hurt the entire Brahmin community. Those guilty of hurting religious sentiments in this way should be suspended immediately,” they said.
Youth leaders like Vijay Joshi, Rohan Apte, Govind Joshi, Rakesh Kulkarni, Venkatesh Joshi, Vikas Padaki, Sanjeev Dewanaji, Dattatraya Joshi, Venkatesh Gudi, Santosh Kulkarni, Nagaraj Joshi, Gururaj Rao, Prashantha Rao Vallabh and others were present on this occasion.
