UP BJP drive from Apr 20 to clear the air on Waqf Act
Lucknow: The BJP will start a 'Jan Jagran Abhiyan' regarding the Waqf Act across the state on April 20.
On Thursday, the state president of the party, Bhupendra Chaudhary, and State General Secretary (Organisation) Dharampal Singh held a virtual meeting and discussed the campaign with the party officials.
All the state officials, regional and district presidents, district in-charges, MPs, MLAs, state officials of the minority front, and other prominent leaders participated in the meeting.
"The Waqf Act neither abolishes any law nor takes away anyone's rights. It is just an amendment which will make the process of the waqf boards more transparent and equitable," Chaudhary said.
He said the central govt, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, took this step to ensure the rights of poor Muslims, Muslim women and people of other religions.
Chaudhary alleged that the opposition parties were continuously creating an atmosphere of lies and confusion due to vote bank politics.
"We have to go among the public and expose the lies being spread by the opposition regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act," he said.
Dharampal Singh said workshops will be organised on Jan Jagran Abhiyan in all six organisational areas of the state on April 20, 21 and 22, and at the district/metropolitan level on April 23 and 24.
"The opposition parties are facing problems due to the Waqf Act because with this amendment, the whole system will become transparent. The common poor Muslim will start getting the benefit of the waqf money," he said.
