AIADMK cadre staged demonstrations in different places protesting against Minister K. Ponmudy for making derogatory remarks against women and Hindu religion.
Addressing a protest near T. Kallupatti, the party deputy leader in the Assembly R.B. Udhayakumar said that the court had come down heavily on the Minister for his remarks. Besides, it had asked the police to register a case against him.
While the demand for his resignation from the State cabinet is being raised, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was maintaining silence on the issue.
The DMK that ‘had belittled women’ should be taught a tough lesson in the 2026 election to the Assembly.
The party east rural district secretary V.V. Rajan Chellappa, who addressed the protest at Othakadai, said that Mr. Ponmudy has the habit of making such remarks against women.
“If a similar incident had happened under Jayalalithaa government, she would have removed him from the party post and cabinet and would also have registered a case against him,” he added.
