Patna: Patnaites got a chance to enjoy legendary silent-era actor Charlie Chaplin's film ‘Circus' and ‘Kid', besides his biography ‘Chaplin' on big screen in the last three days.
A three-day Charlie film festival, organised at a city theatre to mark his 136th birth anniversary on April 16, concluded on Friday.
During the screenings, the audience were also presented with detailed stories of production of these films and their messages to the society.
Theatre personality, Punj Prakash, interacted with the audience on the message conveyed by Chaplin's movies. The film ‘Chaplin' is a biography of the legendary actor, brilliantly produced by Richard Attenborough of ‘Gandhi' fame, he said.
Another theatre artist Jaideo said that Chaplin's influence on cinema is immeasurable. "He revolutionised the way stories were told on screen, proving that silent film could convey profound emotion and narrative depth without words."
Film director Prashant Ranjan said that even today Chaplin's work continues to inspire filmmakers, actors and audiences around the world. His legacy lives not only in his films but also in timeless quotes about life, laughter and the shared human experience, he said.
Suman Sinha, one of the organisers, said that Chaplin was a trailblazer of silent cinema and the genius behind slapstick comedy.
Writer and theatre artist Vimlendu Kumar Singh talked about the legacy of Charlie Chaplin and the influence his films cast on contemporary cinemas of the world.
