With the Common Entrance Test (CET) concluding on Thursday, medical seat aspirants are turning their focus on the NEET examination, which is scheduled on May 4. The engineering seat aspirants are focusing on the IIT-JEE (advanced) scheduled on May 18 and entrance examination of other deemed and autonomous institutions.
Vaishavi, a student of Sharada PU Vidyalaya, was relieved to have done well in the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology papers of the CET. “My focus will now be on NEET,” she said.
Another medical seat aspirant, Samar Khathija from Prestige PU College, said she is yet to decide her career options. “It all depends on my scores in NEET,” she said.
Kendriya Vidyalaya-1, Panambur student, Achyut, said he is not worried much about the scores in the CBSE class-12 exam as he is confident of getting good marks. Results of session-2 of IIT-JEE is likely to be announced by Thursday (April 17) night. Mr. Achyut said he preparing for the computer-based entrance examination of Vellore Institute of Technology scheduled between April 20 and April 27.
Final day
On the third day of CET on Thursday, 19,629 students appeared and 2,908 were absent for the morning Mathematics paper in Dakshina Kannada. For the afternoon Biology paper, 15,091 students wrote and 2,216 were absent, said a release from the office of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Director of PU Department.
In Udupi district, 7,626 students wrote and 463 were absent for the Mathematics paper. As many as 4,270 students wrote and 449 were absent for the Biology paper, said an official press release.
Chairman of Expert Group Institutions Narendra Nayak said the question papers for the CET this time were of good standard, which was a welcome development to fiasco in question papers noticed last year. It will be difficult for students to score full marks in Physics and Mathematics this year. One question in Chemistry paper this year had two correct answers, he said.
