CM Yogi calls for uniform fee structure for urban services
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday urged officials of urban development department to develop a uniform fee structure for services like property transfer, mutation and registration of various deeds.
While reviewing the work of the urban development department, the CM stressed the importance of providing better urban services and making cities more appealing to the local population.
Yogi said the problem of stray animals was causing issues for urban residents and cases of dog bites need to be addressed as a priority.
"No diesel, petrol, or CNG bus older than 15 years must be used for urban transportation, and such vehicles need to be phased out. The 700 electric buses introduced in 15 municipal corporations are giving effective results, and more of such buses can be procured," said Yogi.
Pointing towards the trouble caused to local traders, Adityanath directed officials to issue monthly passes to the motor vehicles of businessmen to solve the parking woes in congested market areas.
While vehicles without passes could be towed away, those belonging to local traders can be exempted during the drive, he suggested.
Private electric bus operators could also be encouraged if they agree to rationalise their fares and user fees.
Electronic display boards and illegal hoardings need to be regulated, and their size must be defined to maintain consistency, he said. "The urban local bodies in district headquarters need to be upgraded to strengthen the e-governance model and provide value-added services. Providing timely alerts and updates covering air and water pollution levels of the city, creating digital libraries for students, smart parking, auditoriums, exhibition space, and smart vending zones could be considered," Yogi said.
Praising the Shivalik Park in Prayagraj, which attracted a huge number of visitors during the Maha Kumbh, Yogi urged officials to create more such public spaces through waste and recycled material.
Yogi suggested setting up Krishna Lok Park and Lavkush Park in Mathura and Ayodhya respectively on similar themes.
Following the success of municipal bonds floated by Agra, Lucknow, and Ghaziabad corporations, Yogi asked officials to start homework on coming up with bonds and handhold Gorakhpur, Kanpur and Meerut municipal corporations.
Principal secretary of the department, Amrit Abhijat, directed executive heads of the 762 urban local bodies to start focusing on strengthening and cleaning the drains and sewerage system before monsoons to avoid water logging.
