Unidentified men snatched gold chains from women in two separate incidents on Wednesday evening.

C. Vasantha (75), a resident of Muthusamy Street in Shevapet, was going to a grocery shop in the locality when a two-wheeler-borne man snatched her four-sovereign gold chain and fled from the spot. On information, the Shevapet police alerted all the police stations in the city and verified CCTV footage. In the evening, they identified the culprit as K. Ajith Kumar (26) of Kadaiyampatti, arrested him and recovered the gold chain.

In another incident, K. Alamelu (59), a panchayat union school teacher of Selva Nagar near Thathampatti, was returning home when two persons on a two-wheeler snatched her six-sovereign gold chain and fled. The Veeranam police registered a case and are on the lookout for the culprits.
