Discontent after teachers of diploma colleges excluded from Gujarat govt’s pay hike order for educators
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government's directive on Tuesday sanctioning elevated pay scales under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for 1,018 technical college educators has generated significant discord. The exclusion of numerous qualified faculty members, particularly from diploma institutions, has triggered protests over their unexplained omission.
Reports indicate that approximately 54 diploma college cases received screening committee approval roughly three months earlier. Nevertheless, these names were absent from the conclusive directive. Claims have emerged suggesting unfair treatment, specifically targeting diploma college teaching staff.
The excluded educators have voiced their dismay, having anticipated these pay grade improvements for an extended period. The unexpected removal of their names in the final stages has left the affected teaching professionals both perplexed and disheartened.
Faculty organisations have subsequently engaged with the education minister, contending that this exclusion contradicts CAS regulations and demonstrates inequitable handling by the directorate of technical education. They are insisting on swift intervention to incorporate the overlooked names and address the situation in an equitable and clear manner.
