Ranchi: An eleven-member state delegation led by chief minister
Hemant Soren will embark on a tour to Spain and Sweden from Friday to scout foreign investments in Jharkhand. This is the Hemant govt's first major attempt to woo global investors after returning to office for the second consecutive stint in November last year.
Govt sources said some members of the delegation left for Delhi on Thursday while the CM, his wife and Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren and chief secretary Alka Tiwary among others will proceed to Spain via Delhi on Friday.
The state cabinet formally approved the tour proposal last week on April 8.
The tour duration to both destinations will be eight to 10 days. The delegation will first visit Spain on April 19 where it will hold round-table meets and trade talks among others in Madrid and Barcelona. In Madrid, the state team will explore investments in energy and steel sectors, while in Barcelona, it will look for govt and private tie-ups in the field of agriculture, aquaculture and food processing. Similarly, the Gothenburg meetings will focus on automobiles and clean energy.
From April 25 onwards, the delegation will be at Gothenburg in Sweden and begin the return journey to India on April 27.
During his previous tenure, the Hemant govt had re-introduced several policies, including industry and startup among others, after the existing ones devised during his predecessor had lapsed. The govt had then held a handful of road shows in key cities across the country to promote them.
