Ranchi: Officials of Ranchi Municipal Corporation met on Wednesday to improve traffic movement in the city by easing out congestions.
RMC administrator Sandeep Singh, who chaired over the meeting, stressed on rolling out an effective traffic management plan to decongest city roads and ensure smooth traffic flow.
At the meeting, RMC officials were directed to put up ‘no-vending' signages from Kutchery to Sujata Chowk and the Circular Road stretch between Kutchery Chowk to Kantatoli Chowk via Dangratoli to put a check on unauthorised street vending.
Additionally, they were also asked to designate parking and no parking zones. Several officials from Ranchi administration, urban development and other departments attended the meet.
The RMC will verify parking facilities at commercial establishments to ensure compliance with urban planning norms. A joint enforcement team will be formed to address complaints regarding excessive parking fees and curb illegal collections.
The Public Works Department was tasked with repairing damaged road medians and acting against individuals who are found defacing public property.
Furthermore, the traffic police, in collaboration with RMC's enforcement team, will pilot a project near Style Bazaar in the Daily Market area to relocate street vendors and create additional parking space. Plans are also underway to develop route charts and bus stops for city buses operating under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The administrator appealed to citizens to utilise the 31 designated parking lots managed by RMC, urging, "Public cooperation is essential in maintaining order and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic in our city."
Civic officials have also promised regular sanitation and drainage maintenance to support the functioning of these new vending zones, ahead of monsoon.
