A woman riding pillion on a scooter was fatally knocked down by a tanker lorry at Chembumukku Junction near Vazhakkala along Civil Line Road on Wednesday (April 16, 2025) morning, around 7.45 a.m.
The deceased was identified as Maheswary, 52, of Nettoor. She was riding along with her husband from Palarivattom to Kakkanad. Reportedly, the lorry, while attempting to overtake the scooter, collided with it, throwing both riders onto the road.
The victim reportedly sustained serious head injuries. Though she was rushed to a nearby private hospital, she succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter. Her husband is currently undergoing treatment.
The Thrikkakara police booked the tanker lorry driver. The body of the deceased was handed over to her family.
