The Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, Bengaluru, A.M. Chowdhary, conducted statutory inspection of the new broad gauge railway line between Chinna Salem and Porpadakurichi railway stations and conducted a high-speed trial run on Wednesday.

Accompanied by Sushil Kumar Maurya, Chief Administrative Officer/Construction, Southern Railway, Pankaj Kumar Sinha, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Division and Thirumal, Deputy Chief Engineer/Construction, Salem and officials from Construction Organisation and Salem Division, the Commissioner began his inspection from Chinna Salem railway station in the morning and proceeded towards Porpadakurichi.

He inspected various engineering works, bridges and level crossing gates in the section.

A high-speed trial run with a special train formation was also held from Porpadakurichi to Chinna Salem. An observation car with modern equipment, to observe and record various aspects of the new broad gauge railway line was part of the formation.
