Varanasi: A series of events organised by various institutions at different places in the city marked the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on Monday.
As part of the celebrations, a programme under the chairmanship of district magistrate S Rajalingam was held at the Collectorate. The programme, which began with garlanding of a portrait of Ambedkar, highlighted his role in the making of the Constitution of India. Senior administrative officials, including the ADM City, ADM Administration, ADM Protocol, ADM Supply, along with other officials and collectorate employees, were present on the occasion.
Minister of state for stamp and court registration fees (independent charge) Ravindra Jaiswal, participated in another programme organised at Ambedkar Park and paid tribute to him. On the occasion, the participants made a resolution to follow Ambedkar's ideals and footsteps. The day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm on the premises of Varanasi Development Authority, under the guidance of vice-chairman Pulkit Garg. The officials and employees paid tribute to him by garlanding his portrait. A two-day national seminar and various competitive programmes organised at KN Udupa Auditorium and Swatantrata Bhawan of BHU concluded on Monday. On the concluding day, the first session began at BHU's Swatantrata Bhawan with a blood donation camp in honour of Baba Saheb. The second session featured a national seminar on the theme ‘The Contribution of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to Justice, Brotherhood, Equality, Economics, and Women's Empowerment in the Global Perspective.'
