Kanpur: Additional sessions judge, Kanpur Nagar, Neelanjana on Tuesday dismissed the bail application of accused Mohd Shahzeb who has been charged by the police for establishing physical relationship with a girl through deceptive means and false promises.
The accused in his bail application claimed that he had been falsely implicated in this case and was innocent. He had not committed any crime, neither made any promise to the complainant nor he ever resided with her in a rented accommodation. Moreover, he had not engaged in a physical relationship with her. He was a 22-year-old student and would not misuse the bail, he pleaded.
On the contrary, additional district government counsel, Sanjay Kumar Jha argued that the accused had established physical relations with the complainant by making false promises and threatened to make her pictures viral. He might misuse his bail, therefore, his bail application be dismissed.
Upon perusal of the case diary and documents on record, the judge observed that the accused had been charged for establishing physical relationship through deceptive means. The complainant stated that she had met a boy named Mohit Sharma on Instagram, and after that she used to meet him frequently.
One day Mohit called her and instead of going outside, took her to his friend's house where he offered some snacks. When she lost consciousness after using the snacks, the accused physically exploited her. When she regained consciousness, he assured to marry her.
Thereafter, he would repeatedly exploit her physically. After six months, she discovered that Mohit was his false name and that he was Muslim named Shahzeb. Her parents severed all relations with her when they learned about this. Shahzeb kept her in a rented accommodation and delayed the issue of marriage.
On January 17, 2025, she met with Shahzeb's family and told them everything, but they threatened to make her photographs viral, and advised her to adopt Muslim religion. The charges levelled against the accused were of serious nature and considering his involvement in the case, without making any comment on merits of the case, there were no sufficient grounds for granting him bail; therefore, his bail application was being dismissed, the judge observed in his order.
