Ex-JPSC chief among 13 scam accused in CBI court
Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairman Dilip Kumar Prasad was among the 13 accused in the 2nd Jharkhand Combined Civil Service Examination recruitment scam who appeared before the special CBI court on Tuesday.
The examination was conducted in year 2005. The accused, including a few of the then JPSC officials, examiners of answerbooks, interview board members and candidates, conspired to commit irregularities in the recruitment process.
JPSC members Gopal Prasad Singh, Shanti Devi, and Radha Govind Singh Nagesh also presented themselves before the court on Tuesday.
While several accused have secured bail from the Supreme Court and the Jharkhand high court, others filed for anticipatory bail on different dates. The advocates, appearing on their behalf, said that none has been taken into custody.
Advocate Pradip Chandra said, "The CBI filed chargesheet against the accused on October 15, 2024. Taking cognizance, the court on March 7 issued summons to them for further proceedings."
The case was earlier investigated by the vigilance department. The Jharkhand high court had in June 2012 ordered for CBI investigation, following a public interest litigation filed in 2011.
The CBI in 2012 registered a case (06A/2012) and filed chargesheet against 60 persons, including the then JPSC officials, after investigation.
The court issued summons to the accused for appearance.
The state vigilance department had filed chargesheet against four persons and the court took cognisance of it.
