Startups urged to make use of finacial support initiatives in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka
Mangaluru: In an effort to promote innovation in the industrial sector, the govt has introduced various schemes to provide financial support to startups. District secretary Tulasi Maddineni has directed officials to take necessary steps to attract more people to these schemes in the district.
During a progress review meeting of various departments held at the deputy commissioner's office on Tuesday, Tulasi noted that despite the presence of numerous professional educational institutions in Dakshina Kannada, including engineering and medical colleges, there was not much demand for startup initiatives. To address this, she directed the deputy commissioner to conduct awareness programmes on startup schemes in collaboration with these professional institutions.
Deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP said that programmes are already being conducted in collaboration with engineering colleges to encourage graduates to venture into startups. He informed that an MoU was signed with NITK, which was designated as the nodal institution for this initiative. He expressed confidence that more startups will emerge in the district in the coming days.
