Former DMK ward member found dead

Salem: R Arumugam, 58, a former DMK ward member in Pethanaickenpalayam town panchayat in Salem district, was found dead on Tuesday.
Arumugam was last seen by his family members on April 12. The following day, they filed a missing person complaint with the Yethapur police.
On Tuesday, locals found his decomposed body near the Thalavaipatti Murugan Temple in Ottapatti and alerted the police.
The police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. Investigations are going on to ascertain whether it was a case of murder or suicide.
“We have not found any leads and have started inquiries,” stated an officer at the Yethapur police station.
