Woman dies under suspicious circumstances

Patna: A suspected case of dowry harassment has emerged in Mahuari village, Siwan district, where a 22-year-old married woman, Phultara Khatoon, died under mysterious circumstances on Monday. Phultara had been married to Javed Shah alias Naushad for approximately one-and-a-half years.
Phultara's mother, Noor Neha Khatoon, has levelled serious allegations against her daughter's in-laws, claiming that Phultara had been harassed for dowry since her marriage. "Her husband and sister-in-law were demanding a refrigerator and cooler," she said. Noor further alleged that Phultara was recently beaten and prevented from attending a wedding at her parental home.
Mufassil SHO Ashok Kumar Das said, "The allegations made by the deceased's family are being investigated. Further action in the case will be based on the post-mortem report and the investigation."
