Mortgage and refinance rates today, April 14, 2025: Don't expect rates to calm down

Mortgage interest rates are up again today. According to Zillow data, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate has risen by seven basis points to 6.90%, and the 15-year fixed rate has increased by three basis points to 6.21%.

Home loan rates will probably remain volatile throughout the spring and summer home-buying season, so if you're otherwise ready to buy, focus on shopping for mortgage lenders and finding a home you can afford.
