Under the initiative “Operation Amanat”, RPF Pune has once again displayed exemplary dedication and honesty by successfully recovering and returning a lost passenger bag containing valuables worth ₹3,74,500.

On 12.04.2025, RPF Pune received a message via DSCR (Duty Station Control Room) that a female passenger named Babita Mahadev Sonawane, traveling from Pune to Solapur by Train No. 18520, had accidentally left behind a red-colored handbag on Platform No. 6 of Pune station near the AC coach area.

Acting swiftly on the information, the on-duty officer SIPF S.D. Mohbe assigned the task to HC Milind Ingle, who was deployed on platform duty. HC Ingle promptly reached Platform No. 6 and located the red bag at the exact location as mentioned. The recovered bag was brought to the RPF Pune post and secured safely.

The complainant, Ms. Babita, was informed over the phone, where she confirmed that the bag contained cash and gold ornaments. As she had already boarded the train to Solapur, she authorized her brother, Mr. Dattatraya Mahadev Sonawane, to collect the bag from the RPF Post, Pune.

Mr. Dattatraya arrived at the RPF Post and confirmed his identity and relationship with the passenger. Upon verification and after contacting the passenger again for confirmation, the bag was opened in the presence of two independent witnesses and Mr. Dattatraya. The bag was found to contain:

Gold ornaments which included a 10-gram gold bangle valued at ₹70,000, alongside three pairs of gold earrings 5 grams collectively priced at ₹49,000. Also present were 5-gram gold medal worth ₹21,000 and four gold coins and medals 5 grams valued at ₹35,000 and 3-gram gold ring priced at ₹21,000, a 5-gram gold Mangalsutra with pendant worth ₹35,000, and a small 1-gram gold Om pendant valued at ₹7,000, Totalling the gold amount as ₹238,000, along with Cash ₹1,36,500 plus some other items like Dry fruits, clothes, medicines.

After confirming the contents, all items worth ₹3,74,500 were returned safely to Mr. Dattatraya Sonawane in the presence of witnesses.

The passenger expressed her heartfelt gratitude to RPF Pune for their honesty and prompt service. This commendable action was carried out by HC Milind Ingle and duly recorded in the daily logbook (Entry No. 43 at 15:20 hrs on 12.04.2025) at the RPF Post, Pune.
