NR Foundation, Taliru Foundation, Rotary Mysore, and Rotary Mysore East celebrated the success of 17 determined women who have completed the second batch of the Swavalambi Sthree Autorickshaw Driving Programme.

The three-month free training programme imparted driving skills and equipped these women with essential life skills, enabling them to achieve financial independence.

Completion certificates were distributed by R. Guru, chairman of NR Foundation, Chitra from the Taliru Foundation, and Praveen M. from Rotary Mysore.

The Swavalambi Sthree initiative was designed to uplift financially challenged women, providing them with the necessary skills to secure stable livelihoods.

According to the NR Foundation, the first batch of 11 women autorickshaw drivers received a warm response from the community, especially the elderly, schoolchildren, and working professionals. These women earn between ₹700 and ₹1,500 daily, and the new batch is set to enhance this positive change by offering safer and more inclusive transportation options.

Participants hailed from various regions, including Mysuru, Mandya, Srirangapatna, Melkote, and Pandavapura. They embraced the opportunity to enter the transport sector with confidence, benefiting from a holistic training approach that integrated important life skills such as self-defence, financial literacy, legal awareness, grooming, first-aid, and more, stated a press release.

With expanding opportunities in the sector, these women have seamlessly integrated into the system, earning dignified livelihoods and supporting their families. The impact of this initiative is already visible in the community, the foundation stated.

Mr. Guru said, “Empowering women goes beyond providing skills. It is about unlocking potential and transforming lives. We are thrilled to have equipped these women with the means to earn a livelihood and foster resilience and independence through the Swavalambi Sthree Autorickshaw Driving programme.”

“The programme continues to pave the way for women’s economic independence and empowerment, reinforcing the belief that mobility is not just about transportation but about progress, security, and a brighter future for all,” the release added.

For enrolment and details, candidates shall contact Padmasini, programme coordinator, on 8105555063.
