New Delhi: Education system in India works at different levels. One of these levels is the elite, highly privileged strata of the society. This society’s children are often admitted to the most expensive elite schools. One of the highly prestigious and high-status schools in India is The Scindia School, a private boarding school for boys. It was established by Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia of Gwalior in 1897 as the Sardar School. It is situated in the historic Gwalior Fort, in the city of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The school’s alumni list includes celebrities, popular and highly successful business personalities, movie stars, and politicians among others.
The Scindia School is one of the most expensive educational establishments in India. It is spread in an area of 110 acres, in a historic, natural and tranquil setting.
As mentioned earlier, this school in not meant for the ordinary people and not everybody can afford its fees. The Scindia School has an annual fee structure ranging from Rs 13,25,000 to Rs 15,30,700¸according to the school’s official website.

The Scindia Education Society constituted in the year 1956 is the custodian of The Scindia School. The Society is governed by the constitution, which contains the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association. The Society was registered under the Societies Registration Act in the year 1956.
The Board of Governors are chosen from amongst the members of the Society. Two Board Members are nominated by the Department of Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The President of the Scindia School Old Boys’ Association Central is an Ex-officio Invitee Member.
The Principal of the School is the Ex-officio Member Secretary. There is always one Parents’ Representative on the Board of Governors. The Board of Governors are responsible for major policy decisions, custodianship of all the properties and financial health of the institution. Under the Board of Governors there are specific committees looking into different areas of development of the school namely- Human Resource, Finance, Infrastructure, Administration and Alumni Relationships. The day to day running of the institution is entrusted to the internal School Management team.
