In March 2025, consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 3.7 per cent more expensive than a year earlier, slightly down from 3.8 per cent in February, according to CBS.
Petrol prices dropped by 3.1 per cent year-on-year, easing inflation.
As per HICP, inflation was 3.4 per cent in March, compared to 2.2 per cent in the euro area.
Dutch price rises outpaced those in the eurozone.

Consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 3.7 per cent more expensive in March 2025 than one year previously, according to the Statistics Netherlands (CBS). In February, the inflation rate stood at 3.8 per cent. Consumer prices rose by 0.4 per cent in March relative to February.

Prices for motor fuels, petrol in particular, contributed to the slight decrease in inflation. In March 2025, petrol was 3.1 per cent cheaper than in March 2024. In February 2025 petrol was 0.4 per cent more expensive than in the same month the year before. In March, the average price for one litre of petrol was €1.91, in February it was €1.97, CBS said in a press release.

Consumer goods and services in the Netherlands were 3.4 per cent more expensive in March than they were one year previously, as per the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). In February inflation was 3.5 per cent. Inflation in the euro area was 2.2 per cent in March, down from 2.3 per cent in February.

Prices for other goods and services in the Netherlands also rose more sharply year on year than in the eurozone.
