Fight against Naxalism in state in final stages: CM
Ranchi: Paying homage to slain Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ) constable Sunil Dhan, chief minister Hemant Soren said the state's ongoing fight against left-wing insurgency has entered its final stages as operations were gaining momentum.
Soren, along with governor Santosh Gangwar, paid tribute to the mortal remains Dhan, who lost his life in an IED blast during anti-Maoist operations in Saranda forests in West Singhbhum district, at the force's headquarters here on Sunday. Later, they also met Vishnu Saini, the head constable of 203 battalion of CoBRA who was injured in the same blast, at a private hospital and promised him best medical care.
"Numerous police personnel have made the ultimate sacrifice in this ongoing fight and their martyrdom will not be in vain. The remaining handful of extremists are now launching desperate attacks out of frustration, but their efforts have proven to be futile," he said.
Soren met Dhan's mother, wife and two sons and promised support and assistance to the grieving family. Dhan hailed from Kanti Podha Toli in Karra block of Khunti district and was in his thirties.
Gangwar, who also consoled the family, stressed the importance of implementing preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. Home secretary Vandana Dadel, DGP Anuraag Gupta and senior police officials also paid tributes to the slain jawan.
