Pune: In a disturbing case of human trafficking, a minor girl from Bangladesh was allegedly sold for ₹3 lakh in the bustling Tulshibaug area of Pune. The incident has raised serious concerns about the growing crime rate in the city.
According to police sources, the minor was confined to a room in Tulshibaug for several days and was threatened with police action if she attempted to escape due to her undocumented status.
Investigations have revealed that she was later sold to a woman by a five-member group involved in the trafficking racket.
The case came to light after the police received a tip-off from an informant. Acting on the information, the Faraskhana Police conducted a raid on the premises and successfully rescued the girl. A case has been registered against five individuals under relevant sections, and further investigation is underway.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another alarming case where a foreign tourist was reportedly abused at Sinhagad Fort, highlighting the increasing vulnerability of foreigners and minors in Pune.
