Dy mukhiya, associate held for minor’s gang rape in Banka
Patna: Two people, including a deputy mukhiya of a panchayat, were arrested in Banka district on Sunday in connection with the gang rape of a 17-year-old minor girl. The deputy mukhiya and his three associates gang-raped the girl while she was returning from her school in the village on Saturday.
According to the police, the victim was returning home from school on Saturday. On the way by the riverbank, the deputy mukhiya, Chotu Kumar (28), and two of their associates, were waiting for her. The deputy and Chotu took turns to rape her, while the other two assisted in the crime.
Banka SDPO, Bipin Bihari, said, "The distressed girl reached home in tears and informed her family about the incident. Subsequently, the family went to the local police station with the victim and filed an FIR against the accused. Considering the seriousness of the case, station house officer (SHO) Mantu Kumar took immediate action and arrested two named accused."
Bihari further said a medical examination of the victim was conducted at the sadar hospital. The statement of the victim will be recorded under Section 164 tomorrow.
"The arrested accused have admitted to committing the crime. Raids are being carried out to nab the two other accused," added the SDPO.
