Even as suspended IAS officer N. Prasanth has been directed to appear for a hearing before Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan on Wednesday, the State government has clarified that it has no intention to permit live streaming or recording of the proceedings.
The Chief Secretary conveyed the government stand in an April 11 communication to Mr. Prasanth. In February, Mr. Prasanth had requested a hearing and that it should be recorded and streamed live as he had raised serious allegations against Ms. Muraleedharan.
The April 11 letter is in continuation to an April 4 notice asking Mr. Prasanth to be present at the Chief Secretary’s chamber at 4.30 p.m. on April 26 for a “personal hearing, as desired.”
Subsequently, in an advance hearing note, Mr. Prasanth had thanked the Chief Secretary for agreeing to the request for audio-video recording of the hearing. The latest letter from the government appears to be in response to this note and as a clarification of the government stand.
Contacted by The Hindu, Ms. Muraleedharan replied in the negative when asked whether the government at any point had agreed to recording and live-streaming the proceedings.
Mr. Prasanth, who was suspended in November 2024, had levelled serious charges against Additional Chief Secretary A. Jayathilak, IAS officer K. Gopalakrishnan, and Ms. Muraleedharan.
