The Federation of All Trade and Industry Associations of Erode District (FATIA) has urged the district administration to construct the proposed 80-feet road connecting the Railway Station and Meenakshi Sundaranar Road for the benefit of the public.
The federation’s executive committee meeting, chaired by its president V.K. Rajamanickam, was held on Friday, during which various resolutions were passed. One resolution highlighted the long-standing demand of the public to establish a road linking the two major roads through Periyar Nagar. The federation noted that the Madras High Court, in its order dated December 2, 2022, had declared that the land at Panneerselvam Park in the city belongs to the State government, and that there is no legal impediment to proceeding with the construction of the 80-feet road. The resolution urged the district administration to retrieve the land at the earliest and initiate steps to construct the road.
Another resolution requested the Corporation not to compel traders to obtain trade licenses unnecessarily. The federation also welcomed the State government’s initiative to display the names of shops and commercial establishments in Tamil.
