The Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) will be holding a meeting to discuss issues related to vehicular pollution in the city on Sunday.
A release noted that despite stringent laws to ensure clean air and minimal pollution due to greater awareness of the need to protect the environment, there is less interest on the part of the officials and the public to monitor air pollution caused by vehicles.
The MGP said the issue is ignored as the negative impact of pollution on individuals is a long-term effect. “Before the pollution reaches the tipping point, we need to take action,” the MGP noted.
It has invited senior officials to discuss the current state of vehicular pollution and the action to be taken.
The meeting will be attended by Ramachandra, Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Manohar, RTO West, and Anil, inspector of Motor Vehicles. It will be held at Yadavagiri on Sunday from 4 p.m. For details, participants shall call 0821-2515150.
