Noida: Around 4,000 criminals have been convicted and sentenced in over 3,100 cases since Jan 2023 in the city, police commissioner Laxmi Singh said. Most of these convictions were for heinous crimes including murder, rape, kidnapping, robbery, dowry deaths and Pocso cases.
According to officials, some of these cases were pending trial due to the failure of witnesses to depose before the courts. Under UP Police's ‘Operation Conviction', cops conducted scientific investigations, gathered irrefutable evidence, and coordinated with the prosecution to ensure offenders were punished in the shortest possible time.
Between Jan 1, 2023, and April 10, 2025, Noida police registered 83 cases under the Pocso Act. It also registered 10 rape, four dowry death, 20 kidnapping, 31 murder, 13 robbery, 302 robbery and eight gang rape cases, the commissioner said
"In all zones, the police are completing the investigation on time with fairness and quality and presenting the witnesses related to such cases before the court on time, thereby ensuring quick conviction in heinous crimes," she said.
