College student drowns in well in Salem

A 21-year-old college student drowned in a well in the district on Friday evening.

L. Ajith, of Kulankurichi near Karumandurai, a second-year student at Edappadi Government Arts College staying in a rented room at Konamori, had gone to an unused well at a stone quarry in the locality with his friends on Friday evening to wash his clothes. Later, while taking a bath, Ajith drowned. After local residents retrieved the body from the well, Edappadi police sent it to Edappadi Government Hospital for postmortem. The police registered a case and are investigating further.
