Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has urged engineering students to become job providers by turning entrepreneurs.
Presiding over a function to distribute offer letters to engineering students at the Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College that is celebrating its 25th anniversary, Mr. Rangasamy exhorted each of them to adopt the mindset of creating a company and providing employment to at least 10 people, a press note from the college said.
Pointing to the situation where B. Tech graduates were getting into even government clerical cadre jobs, the Chief Minister said students with engineering background should prioritise starting new ventures. That’s where more attention is needed, because it can lead to significant national growth apart from job creation, he said.
He later distributed appointment orders to more than 900 students. K. Sendhil Naathan, Managing-Director of TANFAC, the special guest, stressed the imperative of students developing technical and communication skills to be able to meet the technology-related expectations of companies in the future.
M. Dhanasekaran, Chancellor of Takshashila University and Chairman and Managing Director of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Educational Trust, gave an overview of the infrastructure of the college, the various types of training provided to students, and the technological certifications offered by international organisations. K. Narayanasamy, Trust Secretary, called on students to develop versatility and team coordination skills in line with the current industrial environment.
V.S.K. Venkatachalapathy, college principal; N.S.N. Kailasam, Dean (Placement); Velmurugan, Dean (Research and Development); and other office-bearers, including D. Rajarajan, S. Velayutham and Nila Priyadharshini, participated.
