The Forest Department on Friday rescued a monkey that was found stuck in the middle of a check dam near Coimbatore.

A bonnet macaque was found perched on the trunk of a tree in the middle of the check dam at Pudupalayam, near Narasimhanaickenpalayam, on Thursday.

After being alerted by the public, Forest Department staff went to the check dam on Thursday evening and observed the monkey. The staff put two long PVC pipes, with floating rubber tubes tied up on their ends, into the water on Friday. The monkey came out of the water using the pipes. An official from the Periyanaickenpalayam forest range said that a cage has been placed in the nearby residential area to trap the monkey, for release into the wild.
