The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has requested the Delhi government to re-examine its decision to promote 217 Delhi Administrative Subordinate Services (DASS) cadre officers without consultation with the relevant authorities.
The promotion, the MHA said, would disrupt a “well-established civil services hierarchy” and de-link the DASS cadre from the Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (Civil) Services cadre.
In a letter to Delhi Chief Secretary Dharmendra, the Home Ministry said that the DASS Grade l service is the largest feeder cadre for DANICS, and any modification to its recruitment rules will severely impact the latter. “Such modifications could potentially lead to the delinking of DASS from the DANICS cadre as Grade-I DASS officers would have two promotional avenues. This will potentially affect both horizontal parity among other feeder cadres of UT segments and will also affect the vertical relativity between DANICS and DASS,” read the letter.
