State’s tier-2 airports improve rankings in AAI customer survey

The Airport Authority of India (AAI)-run airports in the State have seen slight improvement in the customer satisfaction Index of Airports in Round‐II 2024 compared with the previous Round‐I 2024.

Four airports from the State-Belgavi, Hubballi, Mysuru, and Gulbarga- were featured in the AAI’s Customer Satisfaction Index of Airports for Round‐II 2024 vis‐a‐vis Round‐I 2024.

While Belgavi, Hubballi, Mysuru airports have seen an improvement in the latest ranking compared to the earlier one (Customer Satisfaction Index of Airports for Round‐I 2024 vis‐a‐vis Round‐II 2023), Kalaburgi airport retains the same spot.

The Belagavi airport, which was ranked 11th in the previous year, has climbed one spot. The Hubballi airport, which was ranked 15th, has climbed to the 10th spot. The Mysuru airport, which was ranked 13th in the previous rankings has also improved its position and bagged the 11th spot.

The Kalaburgi airport retains the 12th spot.

In total 66 airports were part of the customer satisfaction survey, in which the Gaggal (Kangra) airport secured the top spot followed by Dehradun and Udaipur.

The survey takes into account 33 parameters including ground transportation to/from airport, parking facilities, availability of baggage carts trolleys, waiting time in check-in queue/line, efficiency of check-in staff, courtesy and helpfulness of check-in staff, thoroughness of security inspection, value for money of restaurant/eating facilities, comfort of waiting/gate areas, internet access/Wi-Fi, among others.

In addition, five questions related to hygiene (added because of the pandemic) were also part of the survey.

The Belagavi airport secured a score of 4.91 in the customer satisfaction index in the latest survey as against 4.73 in the previous survey. The Hubballi airport which had secured a score of 4.91 in the previous survey has secured a score of 4.67. The Mysuru airport secured a score of 4.90 as against 4.70 and the Kalaburagi airport secured a score of 4.89 as against 4.72 in the previous survey.
