Gurgaon: A 40-year-old man died in a hit-and-run accident on NH8 near Pachgaon Chowk on Wednesday.
The victim, Bhopal Singh, was fatally struck by an Alto car while crossing the highway.
Singh and his younger brother Deepak Kumar were crossing NH-8 after getting off the KMP Expressway when the speeding car coming from Jaipur to the Delhi carriageway hit Singh.
The driver initially stopped but fled the scene shortly after, said Kumar, who filed a complaint with the police.
An NSG school bus was stopped, and the public arranged immediate transport for the injured to Fortis Hospital, IMT Manesar, where the doctor declared him brought dead, said the complainant.
Kumar also alleged that rash and negligent driving caused his brother's death. "The accident was caused due to rash and negligent driving at high speed, which resulted in my brother's death due to the injuries he sustained. We want strict action against the accused," said Deepak.
A case has been registered under section 106 (death due to negligence) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) of the BNS at the Bilaspur Police Station on Thursday.
Sub-Inspector Satpal from Bilaspur Police Station said the victim's family filed a formal complaint seeking legal action against the unidentified driver.
Meanwhile, cops are checking CCTV footages near the accident spot and efforts are underway to locate the vehicle and its driver, said the sub-inspector.
