Jhunjhunu: Jeen Mata Temple Trust, which runs the famous shakti peeth Jeen Mata temple in Sikar, decided Thursday to keep the shrine closed indefinitely from Friday morning in protest against the lack of action by the administration against people involved in a clash with the priests that occurred on April 3.
The decision came at a meeting of prominent saints of Shekhawati region and priests of the temple held at the Jeen Mata Temple Trust office Thursday. "The temple would remain indefinitely closed to the public from 10am Friday, April 11. A protest will also be held with the participation of the community members. Daily rituals and worship in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple will continue during the indefinite closure of the temple, but public visits will remain suspended," said temple priest Rakesh Kumar. He urged devotees to visit the temple only after the issue is resolved.
"During the Navratri fair, some priests of the temple were assaulted by the Batisi group and officials of the district administration. The administration assured that an impartial investigation would be conducted by April 7 to deliver justice. However, even now, no justice has been served to the temple priests as the administration took no action," said Kumar.
The temple priests appealed to the district administration to take action against the culprits by 10am Friday. "If no action is taken, the temple will remain indefinitely closed, and a protest will be held by the community members and saints. The protests will continue till action is taken against the culprits," said Kumar.
