Pune: NIBM Road in Kondhwa continues to face severe traffic congestion, particularly at key junctions like Jyoti Chowk, Sarvodaya Chowk, and Bakers Point. With rapid urbanisation over the past decade, the area has transformed into a bustling residential and commercial zone — but without any parallel development in public transport infrastructure.
Despite the growing population and increasing number of vehicles, there has been no introduction of reliable public transport services in the locality. As a result, most residents are left with no option but to rely on personal vehicles, significantly contributing to the rising traffic density.
Residents have also pointed out that ongoing development works across Kondhwa and Wanowrie are further compounding the problem. Several civic projects remain incomplete, leading to narrowed roads and bottlenecks that disrupt smooth vehicular movement. In some areas, only a small portion of the road is usable, causing daily traffic jams and increasing commuter frustration.

“The area is growing fast, but there’s no sign of sustainable planning. We need efficient public transport and timely completion of civic works,” said a resident of NIBM Road.
Locals are now urging the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to prioritise the completion of all pending infrastructure works and initiate the introduction of public transport facilities such as PMPML buses or shuttle services. Citizens believe these steps are essential to easing traffic and improving overall connectivity in this increasingly congested corridor.
