Power engineers announce protest schedule

Lucknow: Power engineers affiliated with Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti Uttar Pradesh have announced an indefinite work boycott starting May 29 to protest against the privatisation of electricity distribution companies, including Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited.
The organisation has announced a series of protest activities beginning with public awareness initiatives from April 16 to April 30, followed by a motorcycle rally on May 1. The schedule continues with hunger strikes from May 2 to May 9, work-to-rule actions from May 14 to May 19, demonstrations on May 20, and three-hour work stoppages from May 21 to May 28.
The announcement comes after approximately 25,000 power sector employees participated in a demonstration in Lucknow on Wednesday.
