Lucknow: Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University has expelled two students — Navin Rai (LLM) and Umang Chaudhury (PhD) — for on-campus indiscipline and misbehaviour with teachers during a fresher's party held at the university on Sunday.
The disciplinary action followed an incident where a group of law students allegedly misbehaved with faculty members who asked them to shut down the late-night DJ and loud music.
A day after the incident, vice-chancellor Prof Amar Pal Singh constituted an enquiry committee under the chairmanship of Prof (Dr) Sanjay Singh.
The committee, which included faculty members Shashank Shekhar, Shakuntala Sangam, Amandeep Singh, and Manoj Kumar, investigated the matter and found the students guilty.
"After reviewing the CCTV footage, two students — Navin Rai (LLM) and Umang Chaudhury (PhD) — have been found guilty. They have been expelled with immediate effect," said RMLNLU spokesperson Shashank Shekhar.
"We are reviewing each and every CCTV footage related to the incident," he said.
