4 held for kidnapping, extorting Rs 50k from bakery owner
Hubballi: Four people were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and demanding money from a bakery owner, said police commissioner N Shashi Kumar. Madhu MT, who owned a bakery in Patil Galli, Yellapur Oni, developed a crush on a woman a few days ago, after which he exchanged mobile numbers with her, the commissioner said on Thursday. Later, her family members threatened Madhu and demanded Rs 50,000, saying he was harassing the woman. Later, Madhu transferred the money through PhonePe. After some days, they started demanding more from Madhu and also kidnapped him. A case was registered at Ghantikeri police station. The police, who investigated the case, took woman's famly members Krishna Indaragi, 31, Kumar BS, 40, Sunil Kanneshwar, 36, and Satish Indaragi, 26, into custody. Two motorcycles used in the crime and Rs 50,000 in cash were seized from the arrested.
