Ghaziabad: GMC has planned arch gates at the Ghaziabad-Delhi border at UP Gate and Ghaziabad-Noida border near Tigri roundabout at an estimated cost of Rs 2.3 crore.
"Ghaziabad is called gateway of UP, and over time, the city carved a distinct identity of its own. It shares borders with Delhi, Noida, Hapur and Meerut. We have decided to build gateways at borders, so that people know once they've entered the district," said mayor Sunita Dayal.
GMC chief engineer NK Choudhary said the work has already started at the Tigri border. "A 54m gateway across both sides of the road will come up at the cost of Rs 2.28 crore." "There are other gateways at UP Gate near Hindon Elevated Road, which is being constructed by the state PWD. It will be ready by the end of the year," added Choudhary. Similar gateways are in the offing at Bhopura border, which is being executed by the state PWD.
