UP Police’s crime monitoring portal wins SKOCH Award
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police's "investigation, prosecution and conviction portal" bagged the prestigious SKOCH Award at the national level under the "police & safety" category.
Developed in-house by the technical services unit of UP Police, the portal plays a crucial role in identifying and monitoring serious and sensitive crimes, including mafia-related offences, Pocso cases, rape and other heinous incidents. It enables real-time oversight of investigations, ensures the timely filing of charge sheets, and facilitates swift and effective monitoring of court trials, thereby accelerating the process of justice delivery.
So far, the portal has facilitated nearly 85,000 convictions and helped resolve over 40,000 cases that were pending for more than five years. Its efficiency and impact significantly bolstered public trust in the state's law and order machinery.
The SKOCH Award certificate was presented to DGP Prashant Kumar by additional director general (technical services) Naveen Arora in New Delhi on Monday.
Team members Taru Mathur and Ankit Pratap Yadav, who played key roles in the portal's development, received special commendation.
"This recognition is a testament to the UP Police's commitment to innovation, professionalism and justice. This reinforces its reputation as a forward-looking force in modern policing," said a senior police officer.
The SKOCH Award, established in 2003 by SKOCH Group, is an independent civilian honour recognising people, projects and institutions that contribute to improving India, particularly in areas like governance, finance, technology and social sectors.
