Traffic curbs to be in place from April 20 for Hubballi flyover construction

Hubballi: The construction of the flyover at Rani Chennamma Circle here is 50% complete and everyone's cooperation is needed to complete the remaining work at a fast pace, deputy commissioner Divya Prabhu GRJ said on Wednesday.
After inspecting the construction of the flyover on Wednesday, Prabhu said roads connecting to Channamma Circle will be temporarily closed for about four months from April 20 to August 19. The roads from Channamma Circle to Basava Vana and from Channamma Circle to Court Circle on Vijayapura Road will be closed.
The city bus station will be closed for four months, and a temporary one will be set up near IT Park. Arrangements will be made at Karwar Road, CBT and Hosur bus stands for buses coming from Vijayapura, Gadag and the rest of the area.
The construction of 3.6km-long flyover, which is targeted to be thrown open by April 2026, started in 2022. The flyover stretches from Vijayapura Road (710m), Gadag Road (700m), Chennamma Circle to Hosur Circle (850m), Gokul Road towards Airport (689m) and Dharwad Road (310m); the upper ramp extends to 350m.
A total of 80 girders and 16 span slabs will be constructed in the flyover from Chennamma Circle to Basavavana and on Vijayapura Road.
Change of traffic routes:
Route from Dharwad to Vijayapura and Gadag: From Hosur Circle, one can travel to Gadag and Vijayapura via Cotton Market, Sharda Hotel, Desai Circle, Pinto Circle or Court Circle, or from Hosur Circle, Katana Market, Neeligin Road, Channamma Circle, Sir Siddappa Kambali Road and also to Gadag and CBT.
Route from Vijayapura to Dharwad: From Sarvodaya Circle, one can travel to Dharwad via DRM Office, Station Road, Channamma Circle, Karwar Road, Bharat Mill Circle and Vani Vilas Circle.
Route from Gadag to Dharwad: One can travel to Dharwad via Station Road, Channamma Circle, Karwar Road, Bharat Mill Circle, and Vani Vilas Circle.
To facilitate smooth traffic, Neeligin Road will be opened only for NWKRTC buses. Light vehicles will be completely banned.
Proposed route for operation of suburban transport vehicles: The buses should travel through Hosur Circle, Cotton Market Road, and take right turn before Cultural Hall, turn right next to North Traffic Police Station, turn right near (swimming pool), return to Hosur Circle via the bus stop next to Glass House Compound. This entire road will be stopped and operated by Suburban Transport. Vehicles coming from Kamaripet Police Station to Channamma Circle are restricted.
