With the State government posting 841 Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) sanitation workers as multipurpose hospital workers on a consolidated pay of ₹18,000 a month, the Tamil Nadu Primary Health Centre Reproductive and Child Health Contract Sanitary Workers’ Welfare Association has requested Health Minister Ma. Subramanian to post the remaining workers as multipurpose hospital workers as well.

G.R. Ravindranath, honorary president and A.R. Shanthi, general secretary of the association, met the Health Minister on Tuesday. They thanked him and the State government for increasing the monthly consolidated pay for RCH sanitation workers working in PHCs from ₹1,500 to ₹5,000. Already, 841 of them were posted as multipurpose hospital workers. They requested the Minister that the remaining workers - more than 1,500 of them - should also be posted as multipurpose hospital workers and granted a consolidated pay of ₹18,000.
