A total of 17,000 police personnel, along with additional armed forces, will be deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of Hanuman Yatra scheduled on April 12, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand informed after a coordination meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting brought together senior officials from Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) along with key representatives from Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and various civic and emergency service departments.
Guidelines were issued regarding the height of idols, with specific instructions to ensure they do not exceed the clearance height of railway bridges, thus avoiding last-minute route changes. The Commissioner also appealed to the organisers to avoid using DJ systems, recommending instead the use of large sound boxes without mixers to limit noise pollution.
Anticipating possible rainfall as per the India Meteorological Department’s forecast, GHMC and traffic police have been instructed to undertake appropriate precautionary measures. Organisers have been asked to share details of participants’ numbers and vehicle counts in advance, and to train volunteer rope parties to handle crowds efficiently. A greater deployment of volunteers was encouraged to maintain order throughout the 12.2 km route.
Hyderabad will witness around 150 processions on April 12 with an additional 46 from Cyberabad and Rachakonda areas converging into the main event.
A joint control room will be operational from 8 a.m. on the day of the event at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) in Banjara Hills, housing representatives from all participating departments to coordinate efforts and provide real-time assistance.
The officials also conducted an inspection of the entire route, beginning at Sri Rama Mandir, Gowliguda and culminating at Tadbund Hanuman Temple, covering key junctions like Narayanaguda, RTC X roads, Ashok Nagar, Kavadiguda and Bible House.
