“Cambodia has a real opportunity to renegotiate a much more preferential trade arrangement with the US—but swift and decisive action is needed,” the chamber said in a LinkedIn post.
AmCham Cambodia has already issued a formal statement urging an end to these tariffs and calling for reasonable, balanced solutions that address US economic and security concerns while ensuring Cambodia’s continued economic growth.
“We stand ready to support the Royal Government in these negotiations to safeguard Cambodia’s competitiveness, attract investment, and create jobs,” the chamber said.
The US Embassy in Cambodia, in a statement, said that on April 9, President Trump will impose an individualised higher reciprocal tariff on the countries (including Cambodia) with which the United States has the largest trade deficits.
