Aruppukottai Town Police have seized 911 liquor bottles on Tuesday midnight which were illegally hoarded for sales in the black market.
The police seized 15 beer bottles and the rest brandy bottles that were kept in a hideout near the Tasmac shop on Railway Feeder Road.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police rushed to the spot and found a man moving suspiciously.
Upon seeing the police team, the unidentified person fled the scene. The police seized the bottles. They are on the lookout for a suspect.
The police said that with Thursday being a dry day in view of Mahaveer Jayanthi, the suspects could have procured the bottles in large scale to sell them in the black market.
