Ludhiana: Police have filed a case against a man for stabbing a 40-year-old woman in Janakpuri area on Sunday. The accused went to her fast food cart and ordered a burger. She asked him to wait. Minutes later, the accused started abusing her and stabbed her with a knife kept on the table before escaping. Police said that the accused and the woman, who live in the same area, had a longstanding enmity.
A case has been filed against the accused, Mohammad Dua Khaleel, on the complaint of the the injured woman, Jahnvi, a resident of Janakpuri. The woman said that when she asked him to wait for the burger, he waited for some time but started abusing her. When she objected and asked him to leave, he stabbed her.
The complainant said that she informed her family, who rushed her to hospital, after which she filed a complaint with the police. Inspector Gurjeet Singh, SHO, division number 2 police station, said that both parties had a spat last year and a case was filed.
It is suspected that the man stabbed the woman due to that old rivalry.
The inspector added that the accused is on the run, and the police are trying to track him. When asked about the woman's condition, the official said that her medical report is awaited but she is stable.
