In connection with the murder of a youth from Krishnagiri district in the forest area of Bargur Hills, the police on Sunday arrested another accused.
A special police team from Bargur police station apprehended T. Kumar, 22, from a hideout in Veppanahalli, Krishnagiri district. He was taken to the station for questioning and later produced before a court in Bhavani. He has since been lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison.
Earlier, the police had arrested Venkatesh, 32, and Rajendran, 35, who, along with Kumar, took the victim, Sakthivel, 24, from Chinnakuthi village in Shoolagiri to a forest area in Thattakarai and murdered him. They reportedly burned the body before returning to the village.
On March 31, forest staff discovered a partially burnt skull and charred bones and alerted the Bargur police. Investigations revealed that Venkatesh suspected Sakthivel of having an affair with his wife. He lured him to the forest, committed the murder, and burned the body with the help of his accomplices.
